ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENTS

PHASE I ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT - Prior to the sale of property, a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment is conducted to determine the past history and present usage of the site and of any adjoining or nearby properties.

Hazardous materials usage and disposal are reviewed, storage practices are documented, including the possible existence of underground tanks, and the facility is visually surveyed to establish the possible existence of disposal or spill sites. The files of the state Environmental Protection Agency are reviewed to determine the company's past history of leaks or spills of hazardous materials. The files are also reviewed to determine if any activities took place on adjoining or nearby properties which could have a negative impact on the subject parcel. Municipal land records are reviewed to determine past usage of the property.

If the potential for contamination is discovered, a PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT is conducted.

This includes the collection of soil and groundwater samples and the laboratory analysis of these samples to determine if contamination exists at the site. A written report is submitted detailing the findings of the survey. If necessary, remedial action is recommended and subsequent activities are conducted under EEW's supervision to meet the requirements of state and environmental protection agencies and the ASTM standards.

If contamination exists, EEW Management can continue the investigation to determine the scope and extent of the contamination.

If necessary, remedial action is recommended and all subsequent activities are conducted under EEW's supervision.  All work is conducted to meet the requirements of state and environmental protection agencies and the ASTM Standards.
